No water for 24 hours TNN, Mar 23, 2010,

MUMBAI: There will be no water supply for 24 hours from Thursday morning in areas between Goregaon and Dahisar. The BMC has decided to take up repairs on two of the major water-supplying of the city.

More than a month after a tunnel in Malad ruptured, and days after a Tansa pipeline burst at Bhiwandi, the civic body has taken up the repairs. The supply to these areas in the suburbs will be affected from Thursday 11 am to Friday 11 am.

“We decided to take up both the works simultaneously so that the inconvenience will be over once and for all. We need to fix the leakages on a long stretch of the Tansa (East and West) pipelines,’’ said civic hydraulic engineer Vinay Deshpande. “To repair the tunnel, we will have to drain water out from Bhandup complex to Malad tunnel and Malad tunnel to Charkop tunnel. Because of this, there will be no water between Goregaon and Dahisar.
